Lucky Dog Books, the used bookstore with branches in Casa Linda and Oak Cliff, will shutter its Jefferson Boulevard location next week unless a savior steps in at the last minute. The bookstore, struggling financially in recent years, had mounted an online fundraising campaign to try and save its Oak Cliff shop, but appears to have fallen short.

The store will shut its doors for good next Tuesday or Wednesday, according to a Facebook post.

This isn’t the first time a Lucky Dog in Oak Cliff has been on its deathbed only to recover and return in a new location, but if this is truly it for the used bookstore, it’ll be sad to see it go.

Update, 05/03: Another last-minute reprieve for Lucky Dog. Proprietor John Tilton writes that the Oak Cliff store has been rescued, and will continue forward with a month-to-month lease.

The strong support of all of those of you who have shopped in this Oak Cliff bookstore in the last week and contributed to our GoFundMe campaign has bought us some more time with the very supportive owners of our building there at 911 W. Jefferson Boulevard.

We will continue on a month to month basis as long as we can demonstrate the community support for the bookstore in this neighborhood. So, please help us pass the word and make some time for browsing a wonderful bookstore right here in Big D.
