35 Denton returned this weekend, and we’re glad to have it back. It was a scaled down version of what the festival was before it went AWOL last year, but in some ways 35 Denton was all the better for it. The Zombies didn’t exactly rock my world as headliners, but there was (usually great) music at every bar, trailer, and stage in the city. There are a lot of talented musicians working in Denton, and it’s a credit to the festival that so many of them got a chance to perform.
So check out our photo gallery of the bands and the beautiful people of 35 Denton.
You can read some more thoughts on the festival here and here, but I have two stray observations from the weekend.
- Festival MVP: (tie) Sinbad and the woman in the headphones dancing at every show we went to Friday night.
- “Best Set at 35 Denton” Title Holder: Capsula at the main stage on Sunday afternoon blew my mind. This three-piece from Spain acted like the biggest rock stars at the festival–playing a guitar with teeth, handing off said guitar into the crowd at the end of the show–and they earned it. It was cheeseball rock and roll at its finest and most sincere.
