Texas Health Resources has named a new chair of its board of directors. John R. Ferguson III will succeed Anne Bass as the head of the board. His appointment will last until January 2017.

In addition to Ferguson, the Arlington-based hospital system also elected Wesley R. Turner as vice chair over that same period of time.

“Texas Health Resources is fortunate to have talented leaders who are dedicated to our mission of improving the health of our patients and individuals in the communities we serve,” said Barclay Berdan, CEO of Texas Health Resources. “I deeply appreciate Anne T. Bass’s dedicated service as chair, and am pleased that the board has selected Bob Ferguson and Wes Turner to serve as chair and vice chair. I look forward to working with them as Texas Health continues its work to transform health care in North Texas.”

Ferguson is the retired managing director and a current board member of TDIndustries Inc., a Dallas construction firm that has a long history of healthcare clients as well as hospitality and sports venues. He has served as the board’s vice chair since 2013 and has been involved a smattering of board committees since 2002. He was appointed to the board in 2012.

He remains a trustee for the Dallas County Community College Board and the Executive Board for Circle Ten Boy Scouts. He was also president of the Salesmanship Club and was chair of Goodwill Industries.

Turner, meanwhile, is the former chairman of the Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Tarrant County.
