Lunch Review: Hully & Mo

I dined at the newish sports bar/man den today for lunch. After reading what commenters had to say about it here, I was a little leery. Due to waistline considerations, I refrained from sampling the items mentioned. But, if you want to know what I thought of what I got (pictured), jump.

First of all, the permanent menus are still not printed, so we were given stapled, photocopied versions to peruse (I mean, I assume these are temporary. Maybe not). As highlighted by our discriminating Dishers, there’s quite an extensive selection. I decided on the mixed green bean salad to which I added the grilled chicken. I have to say, it was one of the best salads I’ve had in a while. The base lettuce was ho-hum strips of iceberg, buy everything else popped. A sprinkling of black beans and roasted corn paired well with a few grape tomatoes and the cooled steamed green beans. The dressing was a balsamic vinaigrette, in which I had to force myself not to drench every bite. The chicken was delicious—lots of rosemary flavor. My friend got a burger, with American cheese and mushrooms, which came with a pile of shoestring fries (no sign of gravy and cheese curds, though). She ate every bite. I will go back (if for no other reason than to try the smores pie and/or banana creme brulee. [Sigh]).

Honcho Eddie Cervantes was telling us that the place has already caught on for Mavs and Stars game-watching. The lunch crowd wasn’t too shabby either. Even spotted John Sughrue, who said he had come to check it out for the first time.
