They took the first 12 minutes of their 10 o’clock newscast — <em>half</em> the show — to air a special report by David Schechter on the December 26 Garland tornado that killed nine people on an overpass that spans I-30. It was titled “<a href="http://www.wfaa.com/news/local/night-on-the-bridge-a-forgotten-tragedy/56402085" target="_blank">Night on the Bridge</a>.” Schechter’s reporting is deep. His delivery is understated. The sound and video editing are gripping. This is the sort of in-depth, compelling, well-produced report that you never see on local news. Channel 8 is to be congratulated.
