“Communications consultant” Adam McGill, whom long-suffering FrontBurnervians know from his many appearances on this blog during his time working at the D Magazine Empire, won a rip-roaring Words With Friends tournament match over sales and event manager Devon Jay. The final score was 429 to 411, played over seven hours. From the look of the board (after the jump), they’re both fine players.
But they delivered very different perspectives on how they got to that final score. From Adam:
SweetDev played “zoic” for 108 points with the third word (z on triple letter, c on triple word). SweetDev was up about 100-150 until Adamatorium bingoed with “guineas” to get back within striking distance. Game was tied at 413. Endgame was thrilling. SweetDev got stuck with the q. Adamatorium wins.
Devon had some questions for the tournament director:
Can you check Adamatorium’s words?
Guineas-Thought proper Nouns couldn’t be used in WWF’s?
Ajee- British Dialect?
Nixy- Isn’t it Nixie? Are those fair words? Maybe I’m just bitter because it was such a close game. =)
Thanks for selecting me to play!! If anyone fails to compete- I’ll step up!
What can we say: it’s tough when life sticks you with the Q.
