Could not agree more with this FBvian. Parents do not care about TAKS. My daughter struggled (as many kids do) with the transition to middle school this year, although we just found out yesterday that she pulled most of her grades up to Bs and a few As for the year. (Go Madcat.) On the TAKS tests? Destroyed ’em. Easy. They tell us nothing. Oh, here’s the FBvian:
What the DMN fails to get is that nobody cares about the whole TAKS-testing scheme foisted upon the state’s education system by a bunch of lawyers in the legislature, and they care even less about whether the kids are cheating on it. The damning part of the story was that all of the alleged cheating going on in DISD schools is in urban lower income schools….. and guess where the most pressure is focused by the administraiton to have better TAKS scores? TAKS is a tragedy and what the DMN won’t say because they continue to be a conservative lapdog is that we have lost an entire generation of Texas young people who have been forced to jump through hoops for this stupid test instead of getting a decent education.
