Andeluna Reserve Cabernet and Peta Pie

AndelunaI shared a take out Peta Pie from Fireside Pies’s  last night and a bottle of Andeluna Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon from my cellar.  Andeluna is an award winning  (125 medals of which 36 are Gold, Platinum or Double Gold awards) winery producing Old World style wine in the town of  Tupungato in the Mendoza region of Argentina.

Fireside’s Peta Pie is always a favorite – tasty goat cheese, arugula, roasted red peppers, portobella’s and roasted pine nuts (which for such a small ingredient, takes the flavors over the top.)  Paired with this hearty Cab Sauv rich with intense Morello cherry, sweet pepper and earthy aromas,  balanced with spicy flavors of pepper, plum, cherry, along with leather and vanilla with well structured tannins.
I am a fan of Argentine wine. Their wine makers have such a love and passion for making great wine, and the price is often incredibly affordable for the quality of wine that you get.  Andeluna is named after the gorgeous Argentine moon that lights the Uco Valley at the foothills of the Andes Mountains.  The Andeluna  Reserve Malbec, the red grape of Argentina, is also a stellar example of well structured wine with intense cherry, plum and red fruit flavors with complex fig, vanilla and spice.
