THUMBS UP PEACE WITH HONOR
Thumbs up to attorneys MIKE MCKOOL, who represented the city, and MIKE DANIELS and BETSY JULIAN, who represented the plaintiffs, for negotiating a settlement in the long-simmering lawsuit over the city’s role in providing desegregated public housing for low-income families. The deal they hammered out will cost Dallas $118.7 million over the next eight years. But given the city’s obvious moral responsibility in the matter, further delay would have been both more costly and unconscionable. The lawyers did their profession (surprise!) and their city proud.
