Texas Sees Second Highest Price Increase in Hospital Inpatient Care

|

Texas saw the second highest price increase in the country for hospital inpatient care, according to an article by HealthLeaders Media.

The study titled “Trends in Inpatient Hospital Prices, 2008 to 2010” noted that despite the widespread interest in U.S. healthcare costs, there is little public information available detailing the prices paid by insurers for inpatient hospital care. Texas saw the second highest price increase in the country at 9.3 percent, behind New York at 10.5 percent.

The American Hospital Association, however, has dismissed the findings as an attempt to divert attention from the harmful impacts on consumers by health insurers’ own rising premiums. The AHA also added that hospitals have kept health spending growth at historically low levels for the third year in a row.
