Word came yesterday that Mark Donald–former D Magazine senior editor, lawyer, part-time magistrate, and brother of Texas Sen. Florence Shapiro–will be the new head honcho at our favorite publication for old conspiracy theories and new massage parlors. Mark is ingrained in the community, intelligent, thoughtful (very thoughtful), measured (really measured), and an all-around fine guy. From what we hear, the Phoenix-based company interviewed a lot of candidates to replace departing editor Julie Lyons, and from our perspective they couldn’t have made a better choice. We wish Mark a great 2008. (Will they let you keep the magistrate gig?)
