It was another busy week in Personnel Moves, with new hires and promotions at 11 North Texas real estate firms. Here are the details.

Joel Behrens
Joel Behrens

Trammell Crow Co. has promoted Joel Behrens to principal within its Dallas-Fort Worth business unit. In this role he will continue to lead the firm’s multifamily division, under the High Street Residential brand. This includes responsibility for the origination, financing, joint-venture structuring, and execution of multi-family investments throughout Texas. Behrens currently is overseeing the development of more than 1.5 million square feet of residential space, including Knox Heights, M-Line Tower, and Park District. He previously was senior vice president for Trammell Crow Co., which he joined in 2008.

John Brewer has joined Transwestern as a principal in the firm’s industrial group. With more than 21 years of experience, he will focus on representing tenants and landlords of industrial real estate throughout  North Texas. Brewer previously was with CBRE. In the last three years, he negotiated transactions totaling more than 2.5 million square feet valued in excess of $87 million.

Brad Takala

JLL has added a multifamily expert to its capital markets group and two to its retail team in Dallas. Brad Takala has joined the firm as executive vice president and will focus on multifamily investment sales. He brings 16 years of experience to his post, holding prior positions with Invesco and The Davis Cos.

On the retail front, Adam Howells has joined as managing director and Jace Hinderland has joined as vice president. Howells most recently served as managing partner of UCR investment sales. Prior to that he worked in investment sales for HFF and Henry S. Miller Cos.

Hinderland also joins JLL from UCR, where he specialized in all types of retail transactions, including sale-leasebacks and joint-venture assignments. Prior to UCR, he was president of Rockwood Real Estate Advisors. Prior to that he held posts at HFF and The Retail Connection.

CBRE has promoted Darrell Gage to managing director of asset services in North Texas. He replaces Martin Mitchell, who retired late last year. In his new role, Gage will oversee 200 property and facilities management personnel across Dallas-Fort Worth, and 34 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space. During his 18-year career with CBRE and Trammell Crow Co., he managed various properties in downtown Dallas and suburban markets. Gage was promoted to director of asset services in 2007.

Bobby Kunkle
Bobby Kunkle

Bobby Kunkle has joined DTZ as senior project manager for project and development services. He previously served as project manager at Oxford Development Co. in Pittsburgh. He has more than six years of construction and project management services and has overseen a number of significant projects.

Chance Olin has joined Holt Lunsford Commercial as industrial marketing director. His primary focus will be project leasing, sales, tenant representation, and development in the greater Fort Worth market. Olin previously worked for The Caffey Group LLC, managing its real estate arm, Lodge Realty Partners. Prior to that he was with NAI Huff Partners and Trammell Crow Co.

Joseph “Joey” Grisham has joined the Greater Irving-Las Colinas Chamber of Commerce as director of economic development. He brings 13 years of experience to his new role, previously serving as president and CEO of the Hutto Economic Development Corp. and holding leadership roles in Lake Granbury; Mobile, Alabama; and Marion County, Mississippi.

Gensler Dallas has added two to its team: Tom Philippi, design director; and Scott Schwieterman, brand design strategist. Philippi is a hospitality and mixed-use design veteran with more than 20 years of experience. Schwieterman is a recognized leader in brand and environmental design.

The LaSalle Group Inc., which specializes in memory care facilities, has appointed Art Carver as vice president of construction. He’ll be responsible for the overall direction and coordination of the construction department, which plans and builds the company’s Autumn Leaves assisted living communities and other business ventures. Carver previously worked for Rockford Construction in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Curtis Hawkins as joined Hudson Peters as vice president. He specializes in investment real estate the Oak Lawn, Uptown, East Dallas, Oak Cliff, and Park Cities areas. His clients invest primarily in apartment buildings, shopping centers, and warehouses. He previously worked in technology for Nortel Networks, IBM, Vought, AT&T, and others, but returned to real estate in 2006.

Matthew Robinson
Matthew Robinson

RETC, a Dallas-based real estate tax consultancy, has hired Matthew Robinson as property tax director. He will be responsible for analyzing, appraising, and appealing assessed values on commercial properties and business personal property accounts. He previously was a senior associate at Duff & Phelps.
