After 12 years of working to lure businesses to Irving, John Bonnot is shifting his focus to the second-fastest growing city in America. Bonnot has been named director of economic development for the Frisco EDC, replacing Nancy Windham, who’s leaving her longtime post to become president and CEO of the Nacogdoches EDC.

At Irving, Bonnot most recently helped Envoy establish its corporate headquarters in Irving. He also helped bring the North American headquarters of 7-Eleven to the city.

His hiring in Frisco comes at a time when the city is experiencing a commercial and residential boom. With about 18,000 acres of land available for development, the FEDC needed an additional staff member to focus on business prospects, said Jim Gandy, president.

“The pace in this office isn’t just fast—we’re operating at turbo speed right now,” Gandy said. “John Bonnot brings more than 25 years of chamber and economic development expertise that will allow him to make a quick and successful transition to his new position. He will be a great ambassador not only for Frisco, but also for the entire Dallas-Fort Worth region.”
