Eight months after learning that Brent Christopher, its longtime president and CEO, would leave the Communities Foundation of Texas to lead the Children’s Medical Center Foundation, CFT announced Monday that David J. Scullin would become its new president and chief executive, effective in January. Scullin, 63, is a business advisor, financial expert, and CPA who dealt with Fortune 500 clients over a 40-year career as a top partner with two global firms, Deloitte and Arthur Andersen. He retired from the for-profit world in May.

“Dave is known for his seasoned leadership, strategic acumen, financial expertise, and his ability to build relationships,” said Frank Risch, the Communities Foundation of Texas board chair. “We look forward to his leadership, which we believe will bring CFT to even higher levels of achievement in developing philanthropy within our North Texas community.”

With $1 billion in assets, the Communities Foundation of Texas is one of the biggest of 800 community foundations in the country. Among its major initiatives are North Texas Giving Day (which has become the nation’s largest single day of community-wide giving), Educate Texas, the W.W. Caruth Jr. Foundation, the Working Family Success Network of North Texas, and the Data Driven Decision-Making Institute for Education.
