Most Dallas grande dames don’t like to discuss their face-lifts. So, in the case of The Library Bar (3015 Oak Lawn Ave. 214-521-5151), we’ll just call it a “refresher.” The jewel of the 84-year-old Warwick Melrose Hotel in Oak Lawn, this spot is a throwback to a bygone era, when natty gentlemen and Chanel-clad ladies sipped martinis and smoked Pall Malls in regal repose. That’s thanks to Duncan Miller, the local design firm that updated the beloved piano bar—rich wood paneling, zebra-striped chandeliers, and a show-stopping blue lapis bar—without losing its elegance. Chef Jeff Moschetti of Dragonfly fame has updated the menu as well. Enjoy a late lunch of gingered chicken pot stickers or tuna poke with candied kumquat all while sipping one of bartender Manny Murillo’s signature cocktails. Through the years celebrities such as Elizabeth Taylor, Arthur Miller, and Luciano Pavarotti have made The Library Bar the place to sip and be seen. Book in now.
