WHERE I WASN’T THIS MORNING

|

At the Dallas Convention Center for a briefing on public transit as part of the Public Transportation EXPO and Annual Meeting of the American Public Transportation Association. It’s not because I lacked an invite–oh, I was invited, I’ll have you know–and it wasn’t for lack of interest. As the press release said, DART Rail has had a multi-billion-dollar impact on Dallas. Full release after the jump. Sorry there’s no recap. (The print version of FrontBurner looms.)

New study: DART Rail drives transit-oriented lifestyle Tuesday, September 27, 10 a.m. – Media Briefing on Transit-oriented Development Dallas Convention Center, Room D-175

News reporters are invited to participate in a media briefing on the multi-billion dollar economic impact of DART Rail and the role it is playing in transforming North Texas communities.

Researchers at The Center for Economic Development and Research at The University of North Texas, under the direction of Drs. Bernard Weinstein and Terry Clower, will present new research on DART’s impact in attracting new live-work-play transit-oriented developments at the briefing. Representatives from DART member cities and project developers will also participate.

DART is scheduled to begin construction later this year on light rail extensions that will double its 45-mile system by 2013 with extensions to Fair Park, South Dallas and Pleasant Grove along with Northwest Dallas, the cities of Farmers Branch, Carrollton and Irving in addition to DFW International Airport.

The media briefing is part of the International Public Transportation EXPO and Annual Meeting of the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) being held at the Dallas Convention Center. DART is the host agency for the convention which will attract more than 17,000 transportation leaders from industry, government and transit agencies and nearly 800 exhibitors representing bus and rail manufacturers and transit equipment suppliers.
