Things to Do in Dallas Tonight: July 9

Party down. via Mockingbird Station’s Facebook.

My friends and I have been bemoaning our lack of pool time this summer, since none of our apartments have one.

Tonight’s a good evening for Mockingbird Station’s Summer Luau, which is hosted at the Loft’s fourth-floor pool and probably doesn’t involve a whole pig roasted over a spit. Feel free to do the hula, however. DJ Blake Ward spins, and and there will be complimentary snacks and “tiki” cocktails from The People’s Last Stand. Relativity Outdoors and Lavo Collections will have poolside pop-up shops.

Speaking of shopping, this sale at Piermarini is just too good not to mention. Everything in the store is half off. Bananas.

Otherwise, head to the Texas Theatre. Their Tuesday Night Trash film series, known for a laser-like ability to hone in on the absolute worst movies ever made, is slightly less trashy than usual.  They’re screening the punk documentary The Blank Generation, filmed by guitarist Ivan Kral and Amos Poe and featuring performances and footage of the genre’s pioneers, such as Blondie and The Ramones, before they got big. Better a blank generation than a lazy, entitled, unambitious one, am I right?
