We were at CityCraft last Friday browsing reams of pretty fabric and my four-year old became mesmerized by the group of pre-teen girls making totes in the workroom. She watched while I shopped (an added bonus) and wants to know when she’ll be old enough to take sewing classes. She’ll have to wait a few years, but there’s all sorts of fantastic classes for older kiddos…and mom too.
Spots are still available in the after school series for kids ages 8-12 where they’ll learn sewing basics and try their hand at all sorts of projects…there’s also weekend classes for kids and birthday party options – a good alternative to the otherwise predictable birthday circuit.
We’re thinking it would be fun to get a grown-up group together and sign up for an evening class as well. We hear you can bring wine…sipping, sewing and chatting seems like a perfect trifecta of activities for a night out.
