five questions – carley seale

You might say that Carley Seale is the very embodiment of a small town girl’s dream come true.  The youngest of three, she grew up on a Texas farm just outside of Tyler with horses, cows, the whole shebang.  But even as a farm girl she dreamed of owning her own shop in the city…an aspiration that became reality in 2007 with the opening of her funky Dallas boutique The Gypsy Wagon.  It’s grown into a full-blown family business with her husband Johnny, and sometimes their energetic two-year-old son John Beck, helping to run the show.

Her eclectic cowgirl-meets-hippie-chic style is groovy and utterly charming…making her exactly the sort of Dallas mom we want to know more about.

In heavy rotation – Iron and Wine, Mumford and Sons and right now I am loving The Dixie Chicks Pandora station.

On my nightstand – An alarm clock to ensure I don’t miss Shimmy Dance Boot Camp in the morning. We meet at 7 a.m. in the parking lot of the store for an hour long workout.

In my handbag – My Cleobella wallet and a couple of diapers and wipes. I switch purses a lot, so I keep the insides simple.

Go to outfitJohnny Was tunic with leggings and cowboy boots. In the spring and summer,  I ditch the leggings and wear tunics with my lace bottomed slip.

No brainer restaurantHatties.  It’s our celebration/splurge restaurant, and we’ve celebrated some big milestones there. I don’t get out of 75206 very often, so going to Bishops Art District is a welcome adventure. (And we definitely leave John Beck with a sitter!)
