The first victim of the consolidation craze in media went public last week. Texas Monthly-owner Emmis Broadcasting announced it is selling off its TV stations and buying back stock in an effort to boost the price. The company also went on a spending spree in regional magazines a few years ago, buying TM, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Cincinnati at “well-valued” prices.
