States are quarantining travelers from Texas on arrival, and officials say a second wave is here.

Dallas County added 445 new COVID-19 cases and seven deaths in what Dallas County Judge is calling a second wave. Officials reported 470 patients who are hospitalized with COVID-19 in Dallas County, the most of any time during the pandemic. 179 of those were in the ICUs on Monday, about 30 more that the previous high reported last Friday. The Dallas Morning News has more.

In a reversal of an earlier quarantine order, the states of New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut have imposed travel restrictions on residents from Texas, making travelers quarantine for 14 days after arrival because of the COVID-19 breakout in the state, KERA reports.

Because of the rise in cases, Governor Abbott has given county and city officials the power to limit outdoor gatherings of 100 or more. The previous limit was gatherings of 500 or more, DMN reports.

For the 12th day in a row, Texas has set a record for the number of people hospitalized with, 4,092 reported on Wednesday, WFAA reports. There were also more than 6,000 new cases in Texas.
