The North Texas CEOs Against Cancer chapter of the American Cancer Society has pledged to raise funds for a year of operating expenses for the Hope Lodge, a lodging facility for patients and their families receiving treatment for cancer in Dallas.

The Dallas-Fort Worth-based executives will show their commitment to cancer care by helping fund the 40,000 square foot facility, which will have 50 private suites, common living areas, laundry, a library and more. It is expected to provide 18,000 nights of free lodging each year, and guests can benefit from American Cancer Society programming. The facility is being built on land donated by Baylor Scott and White, and was funded with a $7.5 million gift from the Gene and Jerry Jones family, additional gifts from the Baylor Scott and White Foundation, and many others.

“Hope Lodge Dallas represents an opportunity for North Texas business leaders to expand our fight against cancer beyond our employees and their families and make a meaningful difference in the lives of cancer patients in our community,” said James Frary, chairman of the North Texas chapter of CEOs Against Cancer and CEO of US Acute Care Solutions via release.

“The American Cancer Society is committed to removing the emotional, physical and financial burdens that many cancer patients must face when they travel away from home for treatment,” said Jeff Fehlis, executive vice president for the American Cancer Society’s South Region via release. “Thanks to the generosity of partners and individuals who have stepped up to help with this project, we will soon be able to provide a home away from home for cancer patients allowing them to focus on what important—getting well.”

The American Cancer Society Gene and Jerry Jones Family Hope Lodge is slated to open in 2021.
