Every cloud has a silver lining–even economic clouds. Addressing a group of nearly 300 businesspeople last night at the Warwick Melrose Hotel, Dr. Mark Anderson of Executive Medicine of Texas said recessions actually are good for health providers, for example. “You’re all going to be having chest pains and other stress-related symptoms,” he said with a smile, “so you need to come see us, so we can assure you you’re not gonna drop dead!” The occasion–D CEO magazine’s Fourth-Quarter Happy Hour–was attended by the likes of Jim Burke, CEO and chairman of TXU Energy; Ken Fairchild, a political/media consultant to presidents and CEOs; and Sarah Hinkley, who leases Bank of America Plaza for Transwestern Urban Advisors. Thanks to all the free adult beverages, I doubt there was a stress-related symptom in the house.
