Sleeper Hit: Dinner in the Wild

OK, let’s be real. Museums are great, but I don’t expect much from museum parties. Last night, the Museum of Nature and Science board of trustees hosted the annual “Dinner in the Wild” fundraiser event at, of all random places, the Automobile Building at Fair Park. The place was packed (photo on jump, H/T to C.S.), with the likes of Lyda Hill, Jan and Trevor Rees-Jones, event chairs John Sughrue and his lovely wife Marlene Fogarty, Joe Harberg, Erin Mathews, and Tom Leppert. Apparently oilman Rees-Jones (or #317, if you prefer) first went to the museum as a kid after his mom yanked him out of the house for playing kickball inside. That’s all I could hear him say from the stage–as you can see, there were a lot of people looking to mingle–and it was hard for me to pay attention because I was thinking about my silent auction items. I don’t know if Rees-Jones bought anything, but I ended up with Christmas gifts, so I’m pretty excited. The Ketel One fountain was also distracting, you can ask Adam McGill.
