Texas Health Aetna Names its New CEO

Texas Health Aetna, the health plan partnership between Texas Health Resources and insurer Aetna, which is now owned by pharmacy giants CVS, has named Cory Scott as chief executive officer.

Scott will lead strategic direction for the the joint venture as well as Aetna’s North Texas and Oklahoma regions. Prior to this role, he was the market Head of Sales & Services for the Georgia, Louisiana, Alabama and Mississippi markets for Aetna. He also held leadership roles at Medicare, Piedmont Wellstar Health Plans, and Coventry Health Care.

Scott will replace Jeff Cook, who will now be the Regional President for Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico for Aetna. The two will work together in implementing Aetna’s services in the region.

“Since the health plan launched in 2017, we have accelerated our efforts to bring innovative product and service offerings to employers and members in the Dallas-Fort Worth area,” Genevieve Caruncho-Simpson, president and chief operating officer of Texas Health Aetna said via release. “Cory is the perfect addition to our team as he brings more than 20 years’ experience launching and growing insurance plans, including provider-affiliated plans. Cory’s vision, drive and performance focus, combined with his commitment to developing a lasting relationship with our clients, will ensure Texas Health Aetna continues to build on its market momentum.”

“I’ve watched Texas Health Aetna expand at a rapid pace over the past few years, and it has been exciting to see the team bring something unique to North Texas,” Scott said via release. “I am excited to join the team as we ramp up our efforts in 2019 and build on the strong foundation that has already been set so we can continue our growth and adoption rates over the next year.”
