Why Is the FBI at an Saginaw Crime Scene?

Arlington Police FBI 7-24-13

Tom Fox’s photo on the front page of the Dallas News this morning raises some questions that perhaps some law-enforcement-employed FrontBurnervians can answer. It shows the scene after the Arlington shooting that Krista noted earlier. From the news stories, the murder and the resulting shooting were both entirely local. So why do we have an “FBI Evidence Response Team” on the scene? Don’t the Saginaw police have their own evidence teams? Why is this a federal matter, and why are the taxpayers of California and Wyoming paying to investigate an Arlington crime?

Update: This post originally asked why the FBI were at an Arlington crime scene. The crime scene is in Saginaw, where an Arlington officer assisting in the bust was shot by the suspect. Apologies for our confusion.
