Tenet Subsidiary Teams With Florida Clinic, Buys Stake In Ambulatory Surgery Centers

|

United Surgical Partners International, a subsidiary of Dallas-based Tenet Healthcare, has purchased a stake in two ambulatory surgery center locations in Jacksonville.

USPI and Florida clinic Borland Groover now jointly own the Jacksonville Center for Endoscopy’s Southside and Riverside locations. The terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Borland Groover is a gastroenterology clinic with locations across Florida’s east coast. It says it’s one of the largest such practices in the U.S., boasting 75 physicians.

Tenet has been buying out other owners of USPI. In April, it bought out Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe to take a 95 percent stake. The remaining five percent is owned by Dallas-based Baylor Scott & White Health.

“The physicians and staff at Jacksonville Center for Endoscopy have a history of delivering world-class patient care and outcomes,” says Brett Brodnax, president of USPI, in a statement. “We are honored to partner with such a reputable and prominent gastroenterology group, and we look forward to building upon this new relationship.”

Note: I made a mistake in the lead and headline previously. I’d interpreted the news as if it were Borland Groover and USPI making a joint acquisition of the locations. In fact, Borland Groover owned them already, and now they’re jointly owned by the two entities. The new version reflects that.
