Several months ago, my colleague Liz Johnstone and I went to a screening of Wonder Women! The Untold Story of American Superheroines at the Angelika. Compelling, smart, and incredibly inspiring, the documentary traces the evolution and legacy of Wonder Woman while exploring how popular media’s portrayal of  powerful women often reflect society’s anxieties about women’s liberation, and, friends, it is fantastic. I left the theater wanting every woman (and man) I know to see the film.

Well now they can.

Tonight Wonder Women! The Untold Story Of American Superheroines will have its national broadcast on Independent Lens Monday, on PBS. Here  in Dallas, the broadcast is on KERA (channel 13) at 10 p.m. (For those of you outside of Dallas, you can go here to check channels and times for your area.)

Because this is the type of film that is most fun when watched with a group, the folks behind the documentary have put together a guide for hosting your own Wonder Woman! screening party. If you’re so inclined, you could also use your Artizone 20% discount (before it expires on April 20) to order up some tasty eats to nosh while watching with your pals… just a thought.

And speaking of the folks behind the documentary, it should be noted that we profiled the lovely and amazing executive producer behind Wonder Woman!Erin Prather Stafford, in our Spring issue. She is a real-life Wonder Woman, and we are totally and completely smitten. Full stop.

Happy watching!
