These weatherproof garden markers are handy for gardeners of all capabilities-those who have so many flourishing crops that they require markers to keep the seedlings straight and those unfortunates who need the markers all season to serve as memorials to the seeds that never sprouted. Available in sets of six, $14.95. Trowel, fork and planter have “triggers” to allow for a firm, natural grip. Set of three, $17.95. All available at Brookstone in NorthPark Center and Valley View Mall.

For the green thumb that would just as soon stay in a chaise longue, here’s an outdoor drawf juniper tree in a clay planter from Lambert’s new bonsai department, $6975, and seven “Kaneshin’ handcrafted bonsai tools in zippered leather cases, $155. Both available at Lambert’s Garden Center, 7300 Valley View Lane.

And how does any garden grow without an inflatable vinyl great horned owl or at least a 6-foot snake? The snake is primarily used in fruit trees and berry patches, but it will scare rodents away from your dock or boat as well. Both are designed to scare the pants off any bird or squirrel that dares come near your crop. Both about $7.95, available through special order at the North Dallas Garden Center, 2830 N. Josey Lane, Carrollton.

Clay pot, $14.95; Texas steppingstone, $5.49.Marshall Pottery Inc., 934 E. Centerville, Garland.
