Hairy Brunet Takes Office

The newly elected president of the Southwest Dallas County chapter of the Women’s Council of Realtors admits to being “big and hairy, but honest.”

This new chief executive, who has to shave twice a day, won’t be setting any fashion trends among the organization’s SO members. “I wear big, roomy trousers.” says the new prexy, “a size 11 1/2 shoe, and no bra. I’m sure they didn’t elect me because of my looks. I guess they know I’m steady and easy to get along with. I’ve been married for 35 years.”

And one more surprising fact: The new WCR president is a 230-pound former University of Houston football player whose campaign slogan said it all: “The best woman for the job might be a man.”

The voting membersagreed, and 55-year-old Joe Cleveland of Duncanville became the first male president of a WCR chapter in the Dallas area. Though his new position has brought a gusher of jokes from his friends, Cleveland says he takes the job seriously. “Hey, it’s the ’90s,” says the hefty brunet. “It could be a whole new era for men.”
