THUMB AWARD THE WRATH OF REV. RAILEY

|

Thumbs Up to the Greater Dallas Community of Churches (GDCC) and its president, Rev. Walker Railey, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, for admonishing the Dallas City Council for what Railey describes as the “in-sensitive and indiscriminate” use of rhetoric that “demeans” the citizenry of Dallas and causes “polarization” of the races. Railey, representing nearly 300 churches and 31 religious denominations, targeted his remarks to City Councilman Jim Hart for previous statements Hart made that implied that illegal aliens are immoral. Although no Council member was spared his wrath, Railey stood his ground when Hart explained that his “private” remarks and correspondence about the issue of illegal aliens had been misinterpreted and misrepresented by the media. Councilman Al Lipscomb, who often and openly accuses other Council members of racism, gave the GDCC a backhanded compliment when he said he was glad to see the usually non-vocal group take a stand on something.
