TopGolf, which runs golf entertainment complexes across the country, is moving to Dallas. The company has leased 14,350 square feet on the eighth floor of 17Seventeen McKinney in Uptown for its new U.S. headquarters.
The company will relocate from Chicago this coming November. Its popular entertainment venues combine interactive golf with a full restaurant and sports bar. The golf balls contain microchips that track a shot’s accuracy and distance. TopGolf operates facilities in Dallas and Allen and five other locations: Alexandria, Va.; Wood Dale, Ill.; and three venues outside of London. Sites in Houston and Austin are under construction.
“17Seventeen was a natural fit for our high-end entertainment concept,” said Zach Shor, TopGolf’s real estate director, in a statement. “The building, management, and surrounding Uptown area are exactly what we think TopGolf is—best in class.”
Developed by Granite Properties in May 2010, the 19-story, 361-524-square foot 17Seventeen McKinney is part of Park Seventeen, a 2.2 acre development off Woodall Rodgers Freeway on the edge of Uptown. Gables Residential owns a second multifamily tower, known as Gables Park 17. Next month, renowned chef Stephan Pyles will open a new concept restaurant, Stampede 66, on the ground floor of the office building.
The TopGolf deal, along with a 25,342-square-foot lease to Ackerman McQueen, takes 17Seventeen McKinney to 65 percent occupied. Greg Fuller, Granite’s chief operating officer, said activity on the remaining space is strong.
Steve Zimmerman of The Retail Connection, and Chris Herrmann and Harlan Davis of CBRE represented Top Golf in the deal. Robert Jimenez and Jim Kirchhoff were the in-house leasing representatives for Granite.
