Yesterday the New York Post reported that First Lady Laura Bush is still on the hunt for a new White House chef. The First Family has been without a chef since February. According to the story: “Bush likes Tex-Mex, seafood, pralines-and-cream ice cream, macaroni and cheese, watermelon, and bologna sandwiches.” Obvioulsy that fare is no challenge for a toque-totin’ chef. And the pay: $80,000-$100,00? A cut for most, especially when you factor in the high cost of DC-area real estate. Why don’t they just hire a local fry cook. Save a few bucks. IJS.
