According to officials, the COVID-19 testing site located at Ellis David Field House was to close Wednesday. Given the spike in cases, Federal funding for the location was extended through the end of July, WFAA reports.

Although the number of new cases continues to climb, COVID-19 deaths are starting to wane. Dr. Philip Huang, director of Dallas County Health and Human Services, said individuals 40 years of age and younger account for 60 percent of new cases, which could explain the slowdown in COVID-19 deaths. Dallas Observer has more.

Texas began reporting the number of hospitalizations of patients with positive COVID-19 test results in April. There were 1,153 hospitalizations in the state on April 6; there were 10,410 hospitalizations on July 12, Texas Tribune reports.
