When Jason McCann and Dan Flaherty of Varidesk won EY’s national Entrepreneur Of The Year 2017 Award in the Emerging category the other day, McCann accepted the honor on Flaherty’s behalf. Then he delivered a happy surprise to the 2,000 guests attending the awards program in Palm Springs, California.
The company’s chief executive officer, who was the subject of a cover story in the October issue of D CEO magazine, announced that he would give a free sit-stand Varidesk to everyone in the audience. The gift was valued at around $1 million, the Coppell-based company says.
“Varidesk has had an amazing amount of success over the past five years, and we are big believers in giving back to organizations and individuals,” McCann later told D CEO in an email. “As I was standing on stage accepting the EY Entrepreneur Of The Year award, I looked up and realized the 2,000 people in the audience comprised some of the best, most successful entrepreneurs in the country, many of whom have inspired me and our staff.
“I knew the best way to say ‘Thank you’ was to offer to give them a Varidesk product,” McCann went on. “It was a simple way to give back the overall entrepreneurial community and let them know how much they mean to the Varidesk family.”
