The Happiest, Most Republican Precinct in Dallas County

They live in part of America that is about to be great again.

This map of Dallas County has fascinated me for way too long today. By dragging your mouse over the voting precincts, you can see how everyone voted. No surprise: the Park Cities and North Dallas went with Trump. Somewhat of a surprise (to me): a strong pocket of red in Lake Highlands. Dallas County as a whole went 62 percent for Hillary and 36 percent for Trump. The most Republican part of Dallas is a sweet spot of University Park bounded by the Tollway, Northwest Highway, Central Expressway, and Lovers (you can see the precincts better if you go here).

To my eye, 2220 is where it’s at. With 945 Trump votes to 306 Hillary votes, it has 3.09 Republicans for every Democrat. That’s the highest ratio I can find. For comparison, that red hot spot in Lake Highlands has ratios down around 1. Precinct 2061, for example, delivered 1,004 Trump votes to 913 Hillary votes. So not only does 2220 have the highest ratio, but it is bordered by precincts (2221 and 2222, for example), that delivered ratios in the 2.5 range and had more total Trump votes cast than did 2220. In other words, it is a highly concentrated stronghold of Republicanness surrounded by extreme Republicanosity.

If the folks in 2220 woke up feeling crappy today, it was only because they partied so hard last night.
