He got hit by a car. And he broke his neck. But it's not as bad as it sounds.

On Friday night, Ryan Hollingshead — one of the most versatile players on the FC Dallas squad and by all accounts a good dude — was providing roadside assistance after a car had wrecked in Irving during amid the snow and ice. While doing so, he was struck by another vehicle, breaking three cervical vertebrae in the process. Which means Hollingshead will be in a neck brace for the next six to eight weeks, but somehow won’t need surgery. They are stable fractures — he is not at risk to damage his spinal cord — but, man, it could have been so much worse.

Here is a sweet photo of Hollingshead and his baby boy, Huck.
