I was skeptical walking into the new Kendra Scott in West Village. Jewelry stores do that to me. I feel like I see the same stuff over and over again with outrageous prices. Not so at Kendra Scott. Right when we walked in, I spied a row of bright pairs of earrings that I could wear every day and special occasions. No predictable gaudy diamonds or surprise price tag to flip either. $60 a pair. Said it right on the sign. I enjoyed almost every shelf, table, and drawer full of necklaces, earrings, and rings. Everything was so colorful, so much fun, and so unique. Meeting Kendra was icing on the cake. She started her business with $500, a belly full of baby, and the hope that people would love her jewelry as much as she loved making it. The specialty here is the metal detailing and the option of dozens of gems and stones to choose from. You absolutely cannot miss the Color Bar where you can design your own pieces on a touch screen monitor. (Pieces can be created for you on the spot in as little as 5-10 minutes.) Buy it as is or design it yourself; it doesn’t change the price. (I imagine this as a perfect stop after a girls’ brunch.) Jump for photos of my favorite finds.
