Southwestern Health Resources Aiming to Acquire North Texas Specialty Physicians

|

Southwestern Health Resources, an integrated regional health network created by Arlington-based Texas Health Resources and Dallas-based UT Southwestern Medical Center, said Friday that it’s in “the early stages” of a deal to acquire North Texas Specialty Physicians and all of its affiliated entities.

North Texas Specialty Physicians is an independent physicians association based in Fort Worth. Formed in 1995, NTSP maintains a network supporting more than 900 primary care and specialty physicians delivering care to more than 15,000 patients each day.

In a statement, Southwestern Health Resources said both parties have signed a letter of intent to combine their operations, which would require approvals from the Texas Department of Insurance and the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

North Texas Specialty Physicians told D CEO Healthcare that it would have no comment beyond the statement by Southwestern Health Resources.

“The potential transaction would be a growth opportunity for NTSP, which has been searching for a strategic partner to advance their organization,” the Southwestern Health Resources statement said. “Leaders of both Southwestern Health Resources and NTSP are excited about the potential of working together to provide higher value care to North Texans.”
