What We’re Eating: A Weekend of Dallas Dining

I ate my way through Dallas this weekend. Pizza, brunch, drinks and dessert.

This weekend I stuffed my face and it was completely worth it. Slowly but surely, one plate (sometimes two) at a time, I wrecked whatever good eating habits I established during the week. The following perpetrators are guilty of my current food hangover and empty wallet:

Friday: Dinner at Cane Rosso
Focaccia bread with rosemary, extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. The Delia pie with spicy bacon marmalade (because BACON), roasted grape tomatoes, arugula and house-made mozzarella. The Cane Rosso pie with local sausage, wood-oven roasted onions and peppers, hand-crushed San Marzanos, house-made mozzarella and parmigiano. Nutella Pizza with vanilla bean mascarpone and a heavy drizzling of Nutella.

Saturday: Brunch at Taverna
$2 Mimosas
Buffalo Mozzarella Caprese with red and yellow grape tomatoes, extra virgin olive oil and sea salt. Classic Eggs Benedict served with my choice of crabmeat (you have the option of smoked ham and bacon as well), topped with creamy hollandaise and roasted potatoes.

Drinks at Standard Pour
Carolina Pine Julep served Mason jar style with Firefly peach moonshine, lime, pineapple and mint. I hear they make a mean Moscow mule, so that’s on my list for next time.

Sunday: Brunch at Social House
The Bloody Mary (not my favorite, but their frozen mango margarita hits the spot). Tomato Bruschetta with Basil Pesto served on grilled ciabatta bread with fresh mozzarella, grape tomatoes and balsamic glaze. Brunch Beignet jelly holes filled with chocolate and raspberry.

Dessert at Wild About Harry’s
The Turtle Creek Sundae mixed with two scoops of custard, hot fudge, caramel and pecans. Next time I’m definitely getting the Banana Pudding Sundae.
