Mansion Restaurant Gets Kudos From Esquire Mag

|

It’s butterfly kisses and multicolored sprinkles for the Mansion Restaurant at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek this morning. Chef John Tesar just got back from NY where he picked up a “Best New Restaurants of 2008” award from Esquire magazine, bestowed by food and travel writer John Mariani.

How can the Mansion qualify, you ask? Because of its recent renovation. Chef Tesar tells us in the press release: “It’ really amazing that we are honored as one of the best new restaurants of 2008, because we’ve been around for 27 years. It shows that people are paying attention and they recognize the Mansion’s reinvention as an entirely new experience, offering more than just one dining option.”  Look for the issue to hit stands Oct 14.

Mansion Restaurant Named One of Esquire’s

Best New Restaurants of 2008

Chef Tesar’s cuisine brings ‘New York edge to Texas swagger’

DALLAS, Texas – (Oct. 8, 2008) – The Mansion Restaurant at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek was named one of the Best New Restaurants of 2008 by John Mariani, food and travel correspondent for Esquire magazine.

Every year, after eating his way from coast to coast, Mariani narrows his culinary adventures down to the 20 best new places to eat, and the remodeled and reinvented Mansion Restaurant made the distinguished cut. Executive Chef John Tesar’s cuisine “brings a New York edge to Texas swagger,” Mariani wrote in the article.

“I’m so proud the Mansion has been named to such a prestigious list, and much of the credit is due to the restaurant’s renovation. We’ve managed to keep the integrity of a Dallas icon, but make it fresh and current,” Chef Tesar said. “I look forward to what the future holds and to leading the next era of fine-dining at the Mansion”

Since the 2007 makeover of the historic Mansion Restaurant, there are now distinct and different dining experiences – the sleek but casual main dining room, The Mansion Restaurant; the Chef’s Room; the Chef’s Table; and The Mansion Bar.

“It’s really amazing that we are honored as one of the Best New Restaurants of 2008, because we’ve been around for 27 years. It shows that people are paying attention and they recognize the Mansion’s reinvention as an entirely new experience, offering more than just one dining option,” Chef Tesar said.

The Chef’s Room, once the library of the Sheppard King mansion, offers a more traditional fine-dining experience with prix-fixe and tasting menus. Recently reopened, the Chef’s Room’s new menu features delights from Chef Tesar’s summer European travels – highlighting Spanish, Italian and Mediterranean influences.

Within the Chef’s Room is the Chef’s Table, a private, no-holds-barred culinary stage for Chef Tesar to delight guests with whatever they wish. Chef Tesar creates a menu according to guests’ tastes and whims.

As a veteran New York chef, Tesar was selected to lead The Mansion Restaurant at Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek into the future. With his stylish, contemporary American cuisine prepared with European techniques, Chef Tesar brings fresh, local dishes to The Mansion Restaurant and wows guests with his personal flair at the Mansion’s newest restaurant, the Chef’s Room and Chef’s Table.

The Best New Restaurants of 2008 guide will debut in Esquire’s November issue, to hit newsstands Oct. 14. To make reservations in the Mansion Restaurant, Chef’s Room or Chef’s Table, call 214-443-4747.
