Children’s Medical Center Dallas has again been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as the only hospital in North Texas ranked in all 10 pediatric specialties in the publication’s annual Best Children’s Hospital report, which is based on patient treatment outcomes, clinical resources and compliance with best practices. The hospital was ranked in the top 10 in the country in orthopedics (3), gastroenterology and gastrointestinal surgery (7), and cardiology and heart surgery (10).
Steward Health Care System and Tenet Healthcare Corporation announced that Steward will acquire five of Tenet’s hospitals related hospital operations in Miami-Dade and Southern Broward counties in Florida. Steward will purchase five hospitals and from Tenet for approximately $1.1 billion. The hospitals include Coral Gables Hospital, Florida Medical Center, Hialeah Hospital, North Shore Medical Center and Palmetto General Hospital. Tenet’s Conifer Health Solutions subsidiary will continue to provide revenue cycle management services to the five hospitals, and Tenet’s United Surgical Partners International ambulatory facilities in these markets will remain with Tenet.
JLL will be developing an 8.75-acre office park for sale or lease in Melissa, called Melissa Wellness Village. The three phases of the project will include two 15,000-square-foot buildings, one 12,850-square-foot, one 10,800-square-foot building, and two 10,800-square-foot buildings to accommodate a variety of different users.
Dallas-based biotech company Allied BioScience added two new C-Suite executives as the company continues to expand. David Maxwell will be the chief financial officer as the company prepares for its final funding round. He arrives from T-Mobile retailer AMTEL. They are also adding Jennifer Keefe as chief legal officer officer, general counsel and corporate secretary. Prior to joining Allied BioScience, Jennifer was the senior vice president, general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary of FTS International, one of the largest oil and gas service companies in North America.
The Liaison Committee on Medical Education has granted TCU and UNTHSC School of Medicine provisional accreditation. LCME gave the school of medicine preliminary accreditation in October 2018, which allowed the school to take its first class of medical students in July 2019.
