Which Topless Bars are Worth Your Time
WE SAY: Wow. That is so not good advice. To begin with, there are no topless joints in Uptown. As for I-35 and Market Center? We think the nice CVB man might have confused Medieval Times with a topless bar. We’d suggest the following: you can’t go wrong with either Cabaret Royale (10723 Composite Dr., 214-350-0303) or the Men’s Club (2340 W. Northwest Hwy., 214-956-8800), two pioneers of the gentlemen’s club concept. (If you don’t know the difference between a gentlemen’s club and a strip joint, we’ll have to save that discussion for another time. But just trust us.) And Spearmint Rhino (10965 Composite Dr., 214-902-0700) would be a good option. But we’d really recommend The Lodge (10530 Spangler Rd., 972-506-9229), a 25,000-square-foot stone- and cypress-bedecked joint replete with animal trophies mounted on the walls, a bookshelf-lined library, and a wine cellar room. In 2008, The Lodge was named the best gentleman’s club in the country by its trade group. That’s largely because of the efforts of owner Dawn Rizos. In a seedy industry, Rizos runs a place classy enough that her mother—a retired physician who authored a book you’ll find in that library—has been known to come in. Oh, and one more thing, just so there’s no confusion: yes, the dancers at The Lodge are hot.
