We changed things up for the latest episode of EarBurner, the D Magazine podcast. Instead of recording in our usual spot at Table No. 1 of the Old Monk on Henderson Avenue, we took the show to the restaurant Five Sixty at the top of Reunion Tower.

The reason was to meet with Wolfgang Puck, who was in Dallas on Monday to take part in the celebration marking the 100th anniversary of Union Station. Tim and Zac spoke with him about his long history of doing business in Dallas, what it’s like to command a restaurant empire, and what he really thinks of his fellow celebrity chefs.

Before giving the show a listen in the player below, through iTunes, Stitcher, or your favorite podcatcher, a few notes:

1. Dallas’ Union Station, which opened in 1916, celebrated its 100th anniversary with an event on Monday. It was also rechristened as Eddie Bernice Johnson Union Station.

2. The collected ramblings of Alibaster K. Abthernabther can still be found here. When a contest was held in 2008 to name Puck’s new restaurant atop Reunion Tower, Abthernabther had his own suggestions.

3. Puck has an IMDB page for his many TV and film appearances, though he pretty much is always playing himself. One exception was voicing “Chef” in the 2011 movie version of The Smurfs, which I had the misfortune of seeing and which led me to write this embarrassingly grouchy review.

4. Superbabies: Baby Geniuses 2 has a running time of 88 minutes.
