County Commissioner removed for not wearing a mask. Nearly 30 percent of adult ICU patients are have COVID-19.

There are 1,886 COVID-19 patients in North Texas hospitals, representing 12.75 percent of bed capacity and 28.86 percent of adult ICU patients, Steve Love of the DFW Hospital Council reports.


Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins reported a three-day total of 2,132 new COVID-19 cases and five deaths on Tuesday.


COVID-19 vaccinations are on the rise in Texas, KERA reports. Some health experts say it could be attributed to more people listening to health care providers or personally seeing new infections firsthand. Texas is now on pace to reach 15 million people vaccinated with at least one dose this week.


After refusing to wear a mask in a Dallas County courtroom, a bailiff removed Commissioner J.J. Koch from his seat on the Commissioners’ Court dais at Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins’ direction. Jenkins said at the beginning of Tuesday’s meeting that he would require masks due to rising COVID-19 case numbers in the county driven by the contagious delta variant.This comes as tensions are rising across Texas between concerns of public health and personal liberty.
