Dallas County reported just 230 new COVID-19 cases and 10 deaths, the lowest number of new cases since June 1, according to Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins.
Governor Greg Abbott encouraged Texans to continue to be diligent against COVID-19 as time drags on, and is especially important when flu season hits this fall, The Dallas Morning News reports. ““You can easily see how hospitals in this region as well as across Texas will be completely overrun with an inability for the hospitals to take care of the medical needs of everybody in the entire region,” Abbott said.
Fifty-seven percent of nursing homes are still reporting active cases, but for facilities without any active cases amongst residents and staff, there will be limited visitation inside and outside, The Texas Tribune reports.
According to a report from 911 operator MedStar, nearly 90 percent of those who called 911 for COVID-19 symptoms are not transported and don’t receive follow-up care, WFAA reports. The organization receives around 50 calls per day due to CCOVID-19, but to keep hospitals from being overcrowded, they only transport those in need of immediate care.
