When parents are looking for the right preschool for their child, they quickly learn that not all preschools are the same. Plano is home to a new premier preschool that offers an alternative model of learning that has received rave reviews from early childhood professionals who are providing children with the best educational approach. Dreamland Preschool uses the Reggio Emilia Approach® to education, a whole-child, hands-on educational philosophy based on the image of a child, who learns through the “One Hundred Languages.”

Juan Hope, founding partner and CEO, says Dreamland’s educational approach is completely child-centered—educators watch what motivates a child’s interest in learning and uses this information as a basis for lessons. The teacher and school are the first two educators, and the environment is the third. “We were very intentional in designing the school because we understand that the space needs to motivate creativity in the child’s mind,” Hope says. “The first five years in a child’s life are so important in terms of brain development. Our goal is to guide children to become better prepared to face future challenges by providing the tools and competencies they will need.”

Destiny Farris, head of school/chief operating officer, says Dreamland’s learning approach is unique to North Texas and has been enthusiastically embraced. “At Dreamland, children are allowed to explore versus being told what they have to learn,” Farris says. “Each activity or project is designed to enhance their curiosity, and everyone can move at their own pace. We partner with parents to ensure that we are able to focus on the whole child while at home and school.”

Registration is open for children ages 7 weeks to 4 years, and five more North Texas locations are under development.
