Richardson Man Gets 3 Years for Capitol Riot. Garret Miller was sentenced Wednesday to 38 months in prison and 36 months of supervised release for his part in the Jan. 6, 2021, storming of the U.S. Capitol. The Richardson man pleaded guilty to multiple charges in December after being accused of also threatening Democratic Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez on social media.
Vote on Universal Studios Theme Park Postponed, Again. The vote on the Universal Studios theme park zoning permit has been postponed for a second time by the Frisco City Council and its planning and zoning committee. The vote was initially to have taken place on February 7, but was postponed until Tuesday, and then postponed again until March 7. Numerous residents have spoken in opposition to the park, citing concerns about crime and traffic.
Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD Names Superintendent. Crandall ISD superintendent Wendy Eldredge has been named as the single finalist for the superintendent post at Carrollton-Farmers Branch ISD. The district’s Tuesday announcement starts the clock on a state-mandated 21-day waiting period before she can be officially hired.
Street Takeover Drivers Arrested. Two men were arrested this week in separate street takeover incidents. Juan Carlos Rodriguez was arrested Tuesday for his part in a street takeover event in Grapevine on New Year’s Eve. Jerry Antonio Gore, of Arlington, was arrested in Austin after a similar event over the weekend. Gore was arrested after a lengthy high-speed chase, and when officers searched his car, they found guns, including one that had been reported stolen in Dallas.
