It started last Friday, coming back from lunch. Northbound (like I had a choice) on McKinney at Fitzhugh, I noticed an older gentleman sitting in a patio chair right there at the corner. Then, Monday on my way to work on Field almost to Woodall, I saw two older gentlemen in chairs. They appeared to have some sort of electronic clipboards. Yesterday morning, again on my way to work, at Knox and McKinney, yet another man on patio chair with widget on lap. I was at a stoplight, so I rolled down my window and asked, “You counting traffic?” “Yeah,” he said. Being a hard-nosed reporter, I asked the toughest question that came to mind, “How’s it going?” “Goin’ good,” he said, then repeated, “Going good.” The light turned green, and that was that. I was going to ask him a followup question this morning, but he was gone. All the other car counters had disappeared, too. Anyone know what’s up? Tony Hartzel, where are you?
