Just when you didn’t think Preston Center could fit any more restaurants, a new one squeezes in. True Food Kitchen from Fox Restaurant Concepts is opening insideon the bottom floor of the new University Park Library’s building at 8383 Preston Center, Suite 200, on November 19.
I think this makes that five-story building the library with the healthiest food in Dallas, hands down. Carrollton’s Keller Springs library, with its 99 cent Cup Noodles and donut holes, can’t touch this.
Even though this True Food Kitchen is the first location in Texas, there are six other ones in different states. A lot of the menu includes “starters, salads, pizzas, entrees, and fresh-squeezed juices, based on Andrew Weil’s anti-inflammatory diet for optimum health. It also offers vegan, vegetarian, organic and gluten-free options, along with dishes for those following a paleo or Mediterranean diet.”
(Translation: This is the kind of food only Park Cities people would serve at their local library.)
But let’s not get ahead of ourselves. The rest of the menu makes me want to chomp on a double meat Whataburger. A woman can only take so much juicing and kale and celery and butternut squash pizza before she goes to the nearest fast-food restaurant and calls herself a true-blooded Amurrican.
The restaurant is open from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Monday through Thursday. On Fridays, it’s open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Can you believe there’s brunch served on weekends inside of a library? Because there is.
